“Is there a perfect time for travels? Either we save, schedule and go for it or not at all. There is no wait and see.”
That was 13 months ago. We got our one-year tickets to South America, booked a cruise from Barcelona to Morocco, Madeira and Canary Islands, reserved a few apartments with AirBnB, established some contacts around the world and are moving forward.
My husband sent his letter of resignation to his employer, officially quitting from a very secure job with the government. Life is too short, our kids are growing and its time to see the world.
People say…WE ARE LUCKY! Truly, there is no luck involved in this process of planning and going around the world. We gave up a lot, stripped ourselves off the norm, the conventional, the comfort zone, the EXPECTED.
I stayed in a ‘cocoon’ for two years to put in the hours of honing my skills as a copywriter and travel writer, and serving my clients with excellence. The skills I now have, no one can take away from me, not even the economy, or the place I live or the time zone I’m in.
I am a writer and an online entrepreneur, helping businesses look good online and being their voice on the web…one of which is a travel related company, who has an Alexa score of 17,000 worldwide and 5,000 Traffic Rank in the U.S. Another client is serving clients all around the world with a positive message of health and wellness (just mentioning two for now). I love what I do and am glad the cocooning days have paid off and enable me to travel around the world and bring my business along.
My kids, 17 and 14 have been groomed to live the unconventional life. If you meet them, you will soon find out. You can meet them on the web, Bethany Looi at OnTaskVA and Jonathan is on Twitter. They learn from Steven Furtick about vision and purpose, Gary Vaynerchuk about hustling, Sandi Krakowski about online business, The Ericksons, Lehmanns and Moreys about true friendship and unconditional love. They learned from their parents the unconventional life and to live a life by design and not default.
For the next 30 days countdown I’m committed to writing a short blog post every single day until we set foot in Santiago, Chile. My hope is that you
• Get inspired to get out of your comfort zone and travel far
• Show kids, young adults and the next generation that there is more to life than just getting by, to establish a voice and make this world a better place
• Travel along with us to the far corners of the earth
• Show you that it is possible
I’ll see you tomorrow. While you are here, let’s connect on Vine, the new mobile social media 6 seconds video platform…look for me, Claudia Looi…I’ll be capturing my life in motion 6 seconds at a time.
