Information products are easily developed and it is no longer taking months or years just to publish a book or a set of CDs. Everything these days can be formatted into eBooks and MP3s. But you have to be aware who is the true expert in their field.
There are the true experts and the ‘not so’… as it is in travel, I found out today….
While taking time off from writing, I inquired about a tour of Chilean Wineries in Central Valley Chile with a tour operator. Interestingly she quoted me a price $212 higher than what she had on the website for four people. The website clearly said the price does not change and is valid throughout December 2013.
I had it in writing too. Needless to say, she is not going to see us on board that tour bus. As a former employee with a few tour operators in Malaysia, New Zealand and United States, I know what it takes to set the price, coordinate a tour and selling a tour. All I can say is “no está bien!”
It’s so easy for me to practice the process of elimination here. Before you pay anyone your money for a tour, check out the website and write or call them if possible before paying. Better yet, book the tour while you are at your destination especially if you are doing slow travels like us.
