Day 18 of 30 Days Countdown to South America and Around the World
News about the Northeast Blizzard reminds me of the days when we had to shovel snow in Long Island New York. I do miss those days of shoveling snow in front of our Cape Cod style home. Today we live in sunny Florida where winter is quite warm and the air-conditioning system is still running. What a contrast in weather for a city just 1,000 miles south of Long Island, New York.
Cold days are rare here in Tampa Bay. We brought many of our winter jackets which were worn only a handful of times in Florida. Our variety of old winter jackets from New York weighs between two to three pounds and looks so huge on us. Did we shrink and was it the style to have big jackets about ten years ago? After looking through, my husband and I decided to donate all the jackets (wool, synthetic, leather) and purchase new lightweight jackets from Arc'teryx.
Once again, our in-house travel gear expert, our son Jonathan helped us out with finding the best lightweight and warm jackets. Here they are:
