Today I've decided to interview my son about his virtual school experience, his thoughts on our trip for 18 months and what he wants to achieve with his website.
1. What is the best thing about virtual school and do you feel deprived for not going to brick and mortar high school with your peers?
The best things about virtual school are that I don't have to wake up early, I don't have to memorize anything, and I can get work done faster than if I were in the public school system. I don't really feel deprived, but I would like to go out of my house more often, like I did when I went to school. The travel thing is going to make a difference.
2. We have less than 10 days before we take off for an 18 months trip with just a backpack per person and one check-in bag for four. How do you feel having to live with less and going to places not just for a week but 18 months?
I feel the same, because I don't really need that many things. We are staying at apartments for extended amounts of time so it will feel a bit homely, we are not necessarily living in hotels.
3. Congratulations on your website which you built in 3 days. Tell us what you hope to achieve with your website?
I hope to help people choose the right travel gear and also I hope to drive as much traffic as possible, so that there will be more monetizing opportunities.
Here is a video Jonathan did for his blog reviewing a Travelon Money Belt:
Here is his sister, Bethany's Preparing to Travel video series:
These two teens are products of Virtual School and have time in their hands to do the things they enjoy. They do work hard, stay focused and derail sometimes for we don't live in a perfect world.
