Day 13 of 30 Days Countdown to South America and Around the World
I'm in a dilemma! To bring a check in bag with my mobile aromatherapy kits and essential oils or leave them behind without my essentials for everyday living and travel with just the carry on.
Home diffuser and essential oils have been my travel aromatherapy must-haves in the past two years. In our recent 11 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean, we diffused essential oils to kill any airborne bacteria, to purify and to humidify the room. In fact we brought this home diffuser from Young Living (below). This diffuser combines a humidifier, air purifier, atomizer and aromatherapy diffuser into one product. It safely releases essential oils into the air to eliminate odors and create a spa-like atmosphere.

I filled it with purified or distilled water, added 8-12 drops of Purification, Thieves, Lavender or any desired essential oil and turned it on.
Another diffuser that we use at home is TheraPro Premium Diffuser. This nebulizes essential oils and disperses them into the air in an ultrafine mist for concentrated therapy. It is another easy portable way to diffuse oil in any room.
We attach a 15-ml essential oil bottle and select the setting with timer and it is ready to 'work the room'. You can instantly transform your room into a spa-like environment with aroma that pleases all senses.

A Frenchmen named Rene Maurice Gattefosse in 1928 who used essential oils for holistic treatment of the body, mind and spirit created the word aromatherapy. Aromatherapy today is widely used in spas; holistic treatment centers and recently some hospitals are recognizing the effectiveness of essential oils for their patients. Travelers can definitely benefit from aromatherapy and the use of essential oils when traveling to anywhere in the world.
I've co-authored an eBook with Dr. Mary Starr Carter because there is not a comprehensive guidebook on essential oils for treating common illness and travel related diseases like diarrhea, altitude sickness, insect bites and more. Here are some of the essential oils on my carry on...
TSA 3-1-1- rule and essential oilIn a world where there are side effects with over-the-counter medication and cancer-causing ingredients (carcinogenic) in personal care products, I'm becoming increasingly aware of what I consume and put on my body. Check out the Environmental Working Group website and find out safety scores for thousands of products in the market today. For example, there are very few sunscreens that are free of harmful ingredients. You can make your own sunscreen with essential oils and natural products.

Most visitors only spend a few hours in San Marino Most visitors only spend a few hours in San Marino. I decided to stay overnight, and it completely changed the experience.

As the day-trippers left, the streets fell silent. The medieval castle took on a different charm in the warm evening light, the sunset over the surrounding countryside was unforgettable, and dinner was a delicious plate of fresh truffle pasta.

If you’re planning a trip through Italy, don’t just make San Marino a quick stop. Spend the night. You’ll experience a peaceful side of one of the world’s smallest countries that many visitors never get to see.

Would you stay overnight in San Marino?

Nature never stops surprising me. Have you ever seen a seed that can do this?

Dressed in their striking chokha costumes and papakha hats, they practiced powerful, warrior-like movements rooted in centuries of Caucasian tradition.

It wasn’t a staged performance for tourists, just a beautiful, authentic glimpse into Azerbaijan’s living culture. These spontaneous moments are often the ones I remember most from my travels.
