Day 27 of 30 Days Countdown to South America and Around the World
I was fascinated with snow globes while growing up in tropical Malaysia. That flaky white stuff floating inside brought me to distant lands with snow-capped mountains and snow covered roofs and pine trees. Recently, when I read that the TSA is allowing snow globes in carry-on bags, I got really excited until I read the special instructions:
Snow globes that appear to contain less than 3.4 ounces of liquid (approximately tennis ball size) can be packed in your carry-on bag ONLY if the entire snow globe, including the base, is able to fit into your one quart-sized, resealable plastic bag. Each passenger can only bring one quart-sized bag with 3.4oz or smaller containers. Larger snowglobes must be packed in checked baggage. (Source: http://www.tsa.gov/)
Your snow globe has to fit with the rest of your liquids in the small clear quart bag. There goes my hope of getting snow globes as souvenirs from around the world. I've just bought a dozen quart bags and gave each member of the family a bag to fill their own personal essentials. It's time to get the essential ready for travel. My quart bag will include:
1. Thieves Waterless hand purifier
2. Soap, shampoo, cleanser, moisturizer, toner
3. Lavaderm cooling mist to spray on skin
4. Essential oils
5. Not possible to add a snow globe
Are you familiar with TSA's 3-1-1 rule for carry-on?
Here is an explanation taken from TSA's website and will surely help you the next time you fly:
3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottle or less (by volume); 1 quart-sized, clear plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure.
I've written an eBook with Dr. Mary Starr Carter on "Your Guide to Staying Healthy While Traveling with Essential Oils." It's my own guide to preparing my travel health and first aid kit as I prepare to travel with my family.
