Day 26 of 30 Days Countdown to South America and Around the World

Creating a destination list is important for around the world travel. It is not the ultimate list but a guideline for routing and planning. Here is a simplified version of our destination list:

Santiago, Chile
Valparaiso, Chile
Wine Country, Central Valley, Chile
Punta Arenas
Puerto Natales
El Calafate, Argentina
Puerto Montt, Chile
Puerto Varas
San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina
Mendoza
Buenos Aires
Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
Montevideo
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Sao Paolo
Iguazu Falls, Brazil and Argentina
Lima, Peru
Macchu Picchu
Cuzco
Easter Island, Chile
Galapagos, Ecuador
Quito
Cuenca
Madrid, Spain
Barcelona
Casablanca, Morocco
Canary Islands, Spain
Madeira, Portugal
Lisbon
Rome, Italy
Istanbul, Turkey
Greek Islands
and more

Since most of our first year of travel, about nine months in South America, we bought a one year ticket with LAN Airlines instead of one year RTW tickets. All RTW tickets are only good for one year or less. After months of planning and researching we chose Santiago, Chile because of the weather. To avoid the extreme Patagonian winter, we are starting our trip in the southernmost town in Chile and working our way up.

When planning for an around the world trip or any type of vacation, consider the season and weather. Is it cold, hot, dry or rainy? Also consider the high, low and shoulder season. You get lower prices for accommodation when you travel during low season.

Most visitors only spend a few hours in San Marino Most visitors only spend a few hours in San Marino. I decided to stay overnight, and it completely changed the experience.

As the day-trippers left, the streets fell silent. The medieval castle took on a different charm in the warm evening light, the sunset over the surrounding countryside was unforgettable, and dinner was a delicious plate of fresh truffle pasta.

If you’re planning a trip through Italy, don’t just make San Marino a quick stop. Spend the night. You’ll experience a peaceful side of one of the world’s smallest countries that many visitors never get to see.

Would you stay overnight in San Marino?

Nature never stops surprising me. Have you ever seen a seed that can do this?

During our walking tour of Baku, we unexpectedly s During our walking tour of Baku, we unexpectedly stumbled upon a rehearsal of traditional Azerbaijani male dancers. Dressed in their striking chokha costumes and papakha hats, they practiced powerful, warrior-like movements rooted in centuries of Caucasian tradition.

It wasn’t a staged performance for tourists, just a beautiful, authentic glimpse into Azerbaijan’s living culture. These spontaneous moments are often the ones I remember most from my travels.

Known as “pulled tea,” this beloved Malaysian drink is made with strong black tea and sweetened condensed milk, then skillfully poured back and forth to create a smooth, creamy texture and its famous frothy top.

From mamak stalls to family gatherings, Teh Tarik is more than a drink, it’s a taste of Malaysia’s warmth, culture, and everyday life.

Have you tried Teh Tarik before, or would this be on your Malaysia food list? 👇🇲🇾
