Puerto Varas is located in the southern Chile province of Llanquihue (yan key way) , in the Lake District (Southern Zone). It is located on the shore of Lake Llanquihue. The city is well known for its German traditional. One could feel the influence by looking at the architeture and consuming the local food. Puerto Montt is 20km away.
There are three volcanoes in this area – Volcan Osorno, Calbuco and Tronador. Osorno is clearly visible from the lakefront. Along the shore of Llanquihue Lake there are a few interesting towns such as Frutillar, Llanquihue and Puerto Octay.
