"The Parts of Speech" was given by one of the teachers in my kids' elementary school in New York. I don't remember which teacher and the paper does not have the author's name. Below is not my writing. It was written by an unknown writer. The other was written by Bruce Tone:
The Parts of Speech
All NOUNS are names of things
As Mary, Rome, and kings.
PRONOUNS take the place of nouns,
You know, she works, he frowns.
VERBS tell something to be done-
to read, count, sing, laugh or run.
When what kind you wish to state,
Use ADJECTIVES as small or great.
But if manner you would tell,
Use ADVERBS, slowly, well.
CONJUNCTIONS join the words together,
As men and women, wind or weather.
The PREPOSITION stands before
A noun, as in or through a door.
INTERJECTION shows surprise,
As Oh! How pretty! Ah! How wise!
The whole are called eight parts of speech,
Which reading, writing, speaking teach.
The Parts of Speech

As, "Jane always smiles, unless she frowns."
ADJECTIVES are essential when you want to tell
That "The large dog is goofy, and friendly as well."
VERBS make the ideas we have go places
As "The man jogs fast so he won all four races!"
ADVERBS add to the action, telling where, when, or how;
As "It occurs quickly or slowly
Did you learn anything from this?
The parts of speech continues...I turned to the other page and found more nuggets of gold. Thanks to the teacher who has given it to my daughter or son.
